From last fall . . .
Marcy: Could the boys stay with you this weekend? We’re going to a convention at Bigtown.
Donna: Sure, but Taylor has a baseball game and everyone can’t fit in our car. Could we trade and take your van?
Plans are made . . . boys are delivered . . . vehicles are traded . . . parting words are spoken . . .
Donna: "Just don't wreck my car."
I learned two very important things that weekend:
1. It’s very hard to see a black cow on a dark road in the middle of the night.
2. It’s very embarrassing to call your friends in the middle of the night and tell them you hit a cow and totaled their van.
3. Very good friends will not get mad at you when you crash their van. They will, however, make fun of you for a long time if you tell them twice not to wreck your car and then you destroy theirs.

Note: I was not the driver. That would be Mark. I was just the one with my foot in my mouth.

So was God preparing Mark for the run-in (or NOT) with the semi? It would seem that way to me. And that's pretty amazing.
We had the same thing happen with my sil. She flew in to visit us, borrowed our car to see friends two hours away, and we made the same joke: Don't wreck the car! And she broke down on the freeway.
But she didn't hit a cow. That was a big cow.
